Jim Gilheany:

Kate & Paul are a passionate and diversely dynamic songwriting team whose sound, driven by melody and emotion, ranges from progressive electric blues-rock to folk-pop/world-beat with a message, and manifested by powerful vocal harmonies,  accompanied by cutting rhythm and solo guitar.

In duo or in band format, Kate and Paul have performed in many original music showcase and club venues, at benefit concerts and festivals ( …The Knowlton Riverfest, Spirit of Bethlehem Festival, The Stanhope House, Waterloo Village Gazebo Series, Myhelan's Centre Stage, Centenary College's Whitney Chapel, Stockwood Summerfest, The World Rhythms Festival, Peter's Valley Craft Fair, Upper Delaware and Musconetcong Watershed festivals, The Purple Stage of Sound Effects Record, and  The Chapel on Main…)

Kate & Paul were special guests on Ralph Litwin's acclaimed cable TV variety show, "Horses Sing None of It", and Dave Richard's THE GIG, TV VARIETY show.

"Warm personalities, tight harmonies
and sterling guitar,
show off well-crafted melodies and lyrics… "

Ralph Litwin, Horses Sing None of It

K&P, Rich Ortiz and Lou Rotile opened acoustically at The Stanhope House for The Derek Trucks Band (lead guitarist for The Allman Brothers). The KP band shared the stage with Putumayo World Records' British/Celtic folk-rock artists "EQUATION" in benefit concert for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, produced by Skylands Sound.   Kate & Paul  and their new band,  Quartermoon,  have shared the stage several times with Professor Louie, Miss Marie & the Crowmatix of "THE BAND" fame.

EARTH AMBER

Their award-winning (Northwest New Jersey Music Awards), nationally distributed CD, EARTH AMBER , released on Buy or Die in 1998 is in second release on K & P's gosobo records.   Largely inspired by environmental and social justice themes, Earth Amber received rave reviews.   Aside from being aired on stations in France, Germany and Brazil, the CD has been in rotation on over 20 stations in the Northeast US, and continues to enjoy strong rotation on WNTI 91.9 FM Centenary College Radio. Recorded at Don Sternecker's Mix-O-Lydian Studios, the CD features an illustrious roster of musicians, including Mike Esposito (Dobro and lap steel) , Niles Terrat (bass) and John Yeomans (drums/hand percussion); Lou Rotile (precision and fretless bass); Andy Goessling of Railroad Earth (alto and tenor sax); Damien Calcagne (Hammond organ); Jimmy Zehnder (drums), Dave McNulty (tenor sax) and Tara Goodman (background vocals).

"The rhythms are diverse, the harmonies thrilling -
all in all an auspicious first album."

...Bill Nutt, Community Forum, Hackettstown, NJ & WNTI 91.9 FM "The Nutthouse"

Two K&P songs, “Catoneras” and “The Perpetrators”, were featured on a radio documentary "The Fruited Fields: America's Serengeti" from the creators of Coyote Nation Radio Journal.  This timely and beautiful audio expose on the preservation of the ANWR (Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge) aired around the world on WNTI 91.9 FM and was a special broadcast feature of RFPI (Radio For Peace International) short-wave radio out of Universidad de la Paz, Costa Rica.

QUARTER MOON PROJECT

Kate and Paul have teamed up in a contemporary folk-rock foursome with Jamie Coan (mandolin/violin/guitar) formerly of From Good Homes and Jim Gilheany (bass) of Sonny Rhodes and Kings in Disguise.

A gospel and Celtic undercurrent mixed with jazzy, R&B overtones on original songs, jams, and creative cover arrangements result in QuarterMoon’s distinctive style. The hauntingly beautiful  arrangement of  Dylan's, "I Believe in You" appears on the October 2002 release, THINKING ABOUT BOB DYLAN, a compilation/tribute album produced by Steve Sevek’s IndieCDs recording group, which also features Dylan covers and originals from renowned singer/songwriters, Jack Tannehill, Will Hoppey, Rex Foster, Danny Schmidt, and Norman Lamont.  Be sure to visit the QuarterMoon link on this web site for bios and pics!
